Lullaby for the Twins

Last Friday the 6th grade teachers had a baby shower for me. It was a lot of fun. It was great to be at school and see all of them again. I really miss the awesome South View staff! It was nice of them to give up the start of their spring break too.

Two of the teachers on our team, Team Globetrotters, with the students came up with the idea of writing a lullaby. They taped it and I got to watch them sing the lullaby on Friday (I will have to get my hands on that video). I guess the students worked really hard on the song and had a lot of great ideas (they were proud of the fact that they managed to work in the word "poo"). Here is the final version of the lullaby - sung to the tune of Rockabye Baby:

A Lullaby for Mrs. Potts and the Twins

Rock-a-bye Mrs. Potts’ new twins,
You’ll grow to be great mathematicians.
You’ll calculate the winds’ speed with ease,
Your mom will ensure that you’ll always say “please.”

Dear Mrs. Pott’s we’re thinking of you,
We hope you’ll come back so we’ll meet your “new two.”
Use your math skills to graph the poo,
Green or yellow, brown or blue.

Having new twins will be so much fun,
Get some new shoes; you’ll be on the run!
Make Mr. Potts do lots of the work,
So you don’t go completely berserk.

It may be tough at moments in time,
Just hum our tune and think of this rhyme.
Hope that you find a moment to rest,
We will miss you and wish you the best!
