Jingle All the Way

Despite the INCREDIBLE tsnownami that hit us in the last 24 hours, the Northfield 9th Annual Jingle Bell run continued.  Dean and I got all bundled up, warmed up the 4 wheel drive vehicle, and made the drive downtown. After running the frigid Turkey Trot, the weather today was warm.  At the start of the run too, there were only 4 to 5 inches of snow on the ground.

There were actually several people that ran, walked, snow-shoed, and skied the course today.  The horse drawn sleigh was there as promised as well.  Dean and I stayed inside the Armory as long as possible.  We warmed our voices for the start line chorus of Jingle Bells.

By the time we finished the run there were serveral more inches of snow and an increased wind speed.  We warmed up with apple cider and rice crispy bars then ventured home.  We have spent the rest of the day watching movies, eating, and staying warm inside!

Senior Football Season

Dear Uncle Josh,

It was so much fun to watch you play football!  Mommy and Daddy say that it has been a good run for Northfield High School football and that you are one of few high schoolers that can say he played on three consecutive state football teams.  Holy cow!

We are so proud of our Uncle Josh!  We have learned a lot about football and how important it is to eat your fruits and veggies to get so strong. Some day maybe Uncle Josh will come watch us play football.  We are working on getting faster and stronger by running around and climbing on anything that looks challenging!

It was so much fun to watch you hit and tackle people!

Love,
Ethan and Owen

Say No to Crack

Ethan was very helpful tonight.  He decided he wanted to get a head start on his diaper change while I was getting Owen into his pajamas.  Ethan pushed his diaper down as far as he could, walked over to grab a wipe, and began to clean his exposed plumber crack.  Time to potty train?

I was laughing so hard but managed to get a few pictures.

Wild Rumpus

We have a great little children's bookstore not far from our house, Wild Rumpus Bookstore. It is a great little place that is always busy with children and animals.

Grandma Dar and Auntie Brittany took Ethan and Owen to pick out some books and play with the animals. The boys were very excited to explore the bookstore. Ethan was pretty interested in petting the kitties and reading the books that were conveniently located at his level.
Owen enjoyed the chickens and racing around the store trying to keep up with bigger kids and explore his own interests.
It was a fantastic trip and ended with some delicious ice cream from Sebastian Joe's.

Christmas in July

We ventured to the lake the weekend after the Fourth of July for the annual Christmas in July family celebration (I know the post is not very timely but still worth the post).

It was Ethan and Owen's first Christmas in July celebration. They had a great time and appreciated Grandma Dar and Grandpa Dean giving up much of their trailer space for them!

The lake festivities included a lot of game playing, frog catching, story telling, laughter, and chillaxin'. Of course the grease fry tradition as well - french fries, cheese curds, candy bars - whatever people wanted fried they got!

Sporting some shades!
Ethan enjoyed hanging out with Grandpa. He got to see the eagle and loons with Grandpa.
Owen enjoyed eating the entire weekend. He begged for food from Grandma.
He even managed to grab bananas during his nap for a little snack.
What a monkey!

The entire group that joined in the 2010 Christmas in July celebration.
