I use YouTube a lot at school. Our principal really likes YouTube and usually shows us a video at every monthly staff meeting. It is pretty funny. So I decided to blog about some of my favorite YouTube videos of the school year.
My Top 5 YouTube videos seen at School:
1. Of course Alex's football and weightlifting videos - he is family :)
2. World's Strongest Dad (caution: this made several female teachers cry)
3. Free Hugs Campaign
4. What You Know About Math
5. Squirrel Pooping

School's Out!
School is officially over! We ended school on Friday by skating at the roller gardens in St. Louis Park and playing at Pamela Park near our school. I brought my rollerblades and skated with the kids. The kids were amazed that I could skate. I still find it funny when students think teachers seem odd and out of place when they aren't in the classroom (perhaps it is just me). I was the same way. I remember freaking out when I saw my second grade teacher in the grocery store. While the students are out enjoying summer, the teachers return for two more days. Teachers must report on Monday and Tuesday of next week. However it is a pretty relaxed environment. We have to be to school some time on Monday to clean up our room and enter grades. Grades are due by 4:00 PM. I will be there before 11:00 AM because we have a staff pizza party to celebrate!
On Tuesday we have a staff breakfast put on by the PTO/PTA (Edina calls it PTO - they even have their own website linked on the district site). Apparently this breakfast is amazing. I am saving up for it already.
Monday and Tuesday I don't have much to do because the custodial staff already removed everything from my room on Friday! We returned from our field trip at 2:30 PM and my room was empty of all desks, tables, bookshelves, and chairs. I heard from teachers that they clean the 3rd floor first because it gets so hot in the summer.
The kids thought my empty room was awesome, so we played a quick game of wiffle ball before the bell rang at 2:40 PM. The kids were great and I am excited to see them next school year. I was lucky to have another great group of students. I even got some hugs on the way out the door.
After the kids left on Friday, I frantically labelled all of the items from my room that were now sitting in the hallway. I guess if you don't label it, it may not end up in your room. I am learning so much these past two days.
Everything ended up working out great and my room is completely clean and organized. I picked up and prepared my room for the summer after school on Friday. I also entered all my grades this weekend. So Monday and Tuesday I will just enjoy the food and check out. I should be out the door early and off to our yard to start landscaping!

Baseball Update
Northfield baseball played again last night. They have only had one game since the start of the season due to weather and field conditions. They now have three games a week for much of the remaining season.
Last night Northfield played New Prague, a fairly good team. Well, Northfield made them look fantastic. Northfield got destroyed, 12-3. Our best pitcher (going to the U of M on a baseball scholarship), Luke Rasmussen, was owned at the plate. He did not do well at all. It is not very surprising though, Luke is either pretty good or AWFUL!
Alex did okay, at least he got a hit.
Tonight Northfield faces Shakopee at their field and Thursday is a double header at home against Hutchinson. I will be at the Hutchinson game so look for more updates in the future.
Oh, here is the article highlighting the New Prague game from the Northfield News.

Neighbors!
Charlie and I officially (as opposed to unofficially?) met our new neighbors today. We haven't really been able to tell which people are the neighbors because there are always several people and vehicles at the house. We have now narrowed the group to the actual residents.
The new neighbors are a younger couple, CJ and Tessie, with three kids. The kids are "couldn't understand her" (6 years old), Abby (5 years old in 5 days), and Isaac (a few months). I am sure you all will see them in the future. They are always outside running around and playing. They have relatives that live just blocks away on Irving and James (this is why several families and youngsters are frequently visiting).
CJ is in his fourth year of residency, currenly at the U of M. He is specializing in ob. So any ladies out their looking for a new doctor, I know someone. Tessie, we think, is a stay-at-home mom. CJ grew up in Edina so we talked about South View and they are good friends with one of the teachers in the building - small world!
The family is only renting the house (which is now off the market) for the next year and a half. After that, CJ owes seven years to the Air Force. They will be moving but are unsure of which base they will be traveling too. So we have a friendly family with cute little kids next door for awhile at least. It sure beats the hermit crabs on the other side of our house.
Abby gave me this flower tonight. She picked it from our front yard. She also picked one for Charlie. I believe her exact words were "I picked this for your husband. Can you go get him so I can meet him too?"
This picture is of our mailbox. The neighbor's nephew loved our yard and front step. He thought our mailbox was very cool and left us a treat - rocks from the neighbor's landscaping. They are really good paper weights for our mail.

Running Opener - Guest Appearance

I am officially the last participant of the Running Opener to blog. However, I received some fan mail from the race that I would like to post. I received the following letter this morning.
Dear Angie and Charlie,
I am one of your biggest fans. I have this deep, long attachment to you and your running. I just can't let go. I need to be there to guide you. I have this slight obsession with all your running details. I have accompanied you on many runs and enjoy your company. It is because of this closeness that I had to write you.
I just wanted to applaude you for an excellent race choice. The scenery was gorgeous along the Mississippi River, the weather was wonderful, and the distance quite manageable. Plus it was perfect timing for a long run warm-up for the St. Cloud Half Marathon next weekend.
Speaking of the St. Cloud Half Marathon, I am very excited to accompany you to that run as well. According to wunderground.com, the weather looks favorable. I hope the course is as great as the Running Opener. I want to wish you the best of luck and I will be there to guide you always.
Your Faithful Follower,
Gertrude Garmin GPS
